There are plenty of quotes on the internet that remind us of the glory, difficulty and energy behind sucess. One of the most important goals of an entreprenuer in any field is to develop the right habits, attitudes and skills neccessary to meet objectives.
"Successful people aren't born that way. They become sucessful by establishing the habit of doing things unsuccessful people don't like to do" ~ Willam Thackeray
Habit #1: Learning. "The capacity to learn is a gift; the ability to learn is a skill; the willingness to learn is a choice"~Brian Herbert. To have the type of success you are capable of, you must learn positively from every experience you have. Ask yourself, "what did I learn? If I could do it again knowing what I now know, what would I do differently?" Reading the Medicare & You book, several times, having access to even adversarial information will help you become a knowledgeable asset for your clients.
Habit #2: Going the Extra Mile. There is great learning from doing more than is required. Too many people decide that "good enough" is well, good enough. It isn't. Always do your best, and then challenge exactly what your best really is. Do you want sucess? Then always do more. Speak to one more person. Hand out one more business card/flyer. Make one more call. Master your presentation. Do all you can, and then do some more.
"Depending on what they are, our habits will either make us or break us. We become what we repeatedly do." ~ Sean Covey
Habit #3: Planning. There's a saying, "without a plan the people perish" the same goes for your business. You should organize your time as not to waste any. You should organize your work space, work bag, even your work vehicle. Set up the ideal week. Do the same things at the same time each day of the week. Block out your appointment times, let's say you work from 9a-4p Tuesday through Thursday, 9a-2p in Fridays and perhaps reserve Mondays for follow-up phone calls. Block out your family time, block out your Me time. The better organized you are the more prepared you will be to acheive your goals.
Habit #4: Maintaing a Positive Mental Attitude. Positive people are more successful. Positive people are happier. They have more fun! Make a decision to be a goal positive person in everything you do and with every person you come in contact with. It is not possbile to have fear, doubt, and worry when you are positive. Stay focused on what you want to do and who you are. If you find it difficult to get into a postive state, search on Google or YouTube for positive encouragement. Remember "Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it"~ Charles R. Swindoll
Habit #5: Improve your Skills. You should always work towards getting better. Being better. You must improve your selling skills for the rest of your life. Sales is a highly skilled profession. To be highly successful, you must approach it like you would approach becoming a doctor or an attorney. Practice, Practice and yes, more Practice. Schedule and ATTEND your trainings. Speak up and ask for help. We are here to help you reach YOUR ideas of success.
"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act, but a habit." ~Aristotle
